Understand the label
Homeopathy is a distinct system from acupuncture and herbal medicine. Products may be extremely diluted, but NCCIH notes that some labeled homeopathic products contain substantial active ingredients. Therefore a label does not guarantee that a product is inert or free of interactions. The practice lists homeopathy as an offered modality; that listing is not evidence of effectiveness.
Ask the clinical question
If a homeopathic product is proposed for pain, fertility, pregnancy or another condition, ask which study supports that exact use and whether the outcome was measured against an appropriate comparison. NCCIH states that evidence for treating specific conditions is limited. Do not use a homeopathic product instead of an effective prescribed treatment or to postpone diagnostic workup.
Check what you would receive
Request the actual product name, ingredients, proposed reason, price and what to do if symptoms change. Tell your medical clinician about it, especially during pregnancy, fertility treatment or care involving multiple medicines. You can decline an optional product while still discussing other services with the practice.
