Avoid overlooking a cause
The AUA/ASRM guideline recommends male reproductive evaluation when infertility or abnormal semen parameters are present. A semen analysis and medical history may point toward different next steps; an acupuncture visit cannot replace that workup. The practice lists men's health and fertility, so ask what service is offered rather than assuming a specific diagnostic capability.
Read studies by outcome
NCCIH describes studies on acupuncture for low sperm count or motility but says the evidence is inadequate for firm conclusions. Even a measured sperm change would not automatically establish more pregnancies or live births. Ask anyone claiming a fertility benefit whether the evidence addresses the condition and outcome you care about.
Keep care coordinated
Tell a reproductive specialist about complementary appointments and all supplements. Product interactions and unproven claims are especially relevant if a treatment regimen is already underway. Decide in advance what supportive benefit you hope for, how long you would try it and the total cost; do not defer a specialist's recommendations for a promised natural fix.
Questions and answers
Can acupuncture replace a semen analysis?
No. A medical evaluation can investigate causes and guide treatment; acupuncture evidence does not support using it as a diagnostic substitute.
